Cody Labs Expansion

February 5, 2014....

So, in the 20 years that I have been in Cody I don't recall an opportunity for our community to grow like this one.  Anyone that would love to see their kids stay in Cody with decent job opportunities needs to act on this now.

Take a moment to let our state legislators know  that this is something you are passionate about.

The letter below was originally created by Scott Balyo with the Cody Chamber.  He asked that we "make it our own" and get it out to our legislators.  That's what I plan to do and I hope you will too.  They can all be reached using the following link Wyoming Legislators.

Dear Supporter of Wyoming Economic Growth,

We are asking for your support on a critical economic development opportunity we have in Park County.

Cody Labs, a local pharmaceutical manufacturing company, is poised for tremendous growth and job creation.  With 110 employees and the willingness to invest over $71 million of its own money, Cody Labs (Lannett Company) is seeking assistance from the state of Wyoming to help fund an expansion that will bring an additional 250 jobs to the Cody area by 2026.

We are asking you to support a direct appropriation of $24.4 million from the Wyoming State Legislature
in the form of a $21.4 million loan and a $3 million grant to fund this $100 million investment in Cody's future.

We recognize this is a significant request; however, the return on investment is substantial.

-     16 additional local jobs created in 2014
-     100 additional local jobs created by 2018
-     360 total jobs at Cody Labs by 2026 with an average wage of $55,000/year
-     $1.3 million in property taxes and an additional $705,000 in sales tax.
-     Indirect job creation of another 115 positions within Park County.

The term "game changer" os often overused, but when it comes to the expansion of Cody Labs, this is truly a project that not only benefits the Big Horn Basin, but the entire state of Wyoming.

We strongly believe this will also create additional interest and investment in the Cowboy State, so while
it's Cody today, there could very well be opportunities for your community tomorrow.

So what can you do?

Please contact your local State Representatives and Senators and ask them to support this important investment in Wyoming's future.  We can't do this without your help.

This is a "home grown" opportunity, one that will provide our residents with strong employment opportunities  both now and long into the future.  Thank you very much for your consideration.

Sincerely,
